good communication = relationships.

It's hard enough to keep in contact with friends in the same zip code

let alone those you left thousand miles away....

I shall thank the creator of those social networking sites such as the Mr.F and awesome Mr.Skype so that we not only can hear but it lets me talk to my dogs. yes... I'm no dog whisperer but I do talk to them.

When a friend or family goes on skype it felt like they gave me just the perfect boost for the entire week. It shows how some still care to even say hi and asks how you're doing... like the buttered honeyed toast I've been missing.. badly..( I literally just meant toast in here)

but then when language barrier gets in the way... it's hard to get my way around it..
let alone language barrier.. sometimes just to be comfortable to talk about everyday 'stuff' it's hard to express my point across. Or maybe it's just me making excuses...

shoot! I hate being a grown up
you talk about these non-sense on your blog just because your moody...

Autumn... leaves are turning red, winds are blowing stronger,
but there are some good days as well. (u know the one where if-u-stand-under-the-sun-its-hot-but-under-the-shadows-its-freakin-cold kind of weather)
so as a friend said to me to enjoy to the very last of my korean language period, when the sun kindly show itself, means no more staying home. My pocket on the other hand says otherwise though...

A saying in korean says autumn belongs to the male population. As 'adventurous' as I claimed my self to be, I asked. The korean teacher said that autumn is the time for guys to reminiscence about their past and be as mysterious as they can be. another opinion says otherwise... it's a time to look 'cool' with their sweaters and long coats. Have to admit, I am not complaining. as long as it's no short boxes, I'm down with it. :)

Autumn also meant that 6 months has passed by since I first landed on the land of 'kimchi-all-the-way'. So far, it has been...'warmer and interesting' than I expected..
time flies faster than I thought it would be... it will soon be snow balls, end of year resolutions, and hopefully not...goodbyes...

I guess I will need to wait 'till next month when the 'question marks' revealed its fate.

autumn also meant mid-term exams. to those who are taking the exam and a special shout out to the boy, don't stress yourself out, and don't forget to eat!!

I wish there are guidebooks for life.. Where it tells you all the truths in life.. Where it lets you know that there is no such things as a straight road... life is a roller coaster with seat belts to always keep you safe

Lately I felt like my seat belt is becoming loose... as a friend said I have been beating around the bush with my decisions... Unsure of what to do and what i actually want regards to both relationship and school.

I dreamt of big things that i could achieve 'things' rather than 'a thing'... but never figure out what do i really want...
This is not the first time Ive heard of this but just never bother to take notice. As time goes by I've realised that I have confused my own self even more to the point that i need to think clearly for what I stand for.. What i want to do with my life and be my own navigator of life as God intended us to be. To follow the basic rules of life while still keeping a sense of My own identity.

without doubt this is said easier than done. But one has to try..

The big question is that... HOW??

getting tired of this place...

wish i could run away to a place where buttered honeyed toast is all i need...

thinking if I have made the right choice... running away from my patisserie dream for a while...just for a while or so I thought...

wish I could turn back time where all I need is chicken curry after school, friends eating out, sharing life stories, talking about someone else's other half and promise ours will be different or so I thought...

goggling recipes to see what to bake this weekend instead of spending time with the other half or so i thought...

dear buttered honeyed toast... all i need is melt in your mouth buttered and a hint of honey in my toast. Is that too much to ask?

38C bus ride...

so another friday has come... I didn't realise it was Friday until it is friday....

wait....

does it make sense?mm... no... really...

sorry... I just got back from one of the most excruciating bus ride on record.
It has to be 'a moment to remember' as the bus we took to go back to Seoul filled with more than 30 students was 38C inside. 38 freakin' degrees that's like the temperature of a human body, not to count the 102% humidity.. and no windows...
the air conditioner worked out fine when we got in first, but then around 30 minutes later.. it turned it self to a mobile jimjilbang(sauna). With the combination of some K-pop music video playing on the TV put up by the lovely driver ajhussi... yea it was hot, noisy, people complaining from back to front.... let's just say it wasn't the prettiest ride.
Funny thing is that when we finally got off from this 'sauna' everyone smiled in joy as the weather outside was cooler (it was currently 35C outside)

my obsession with green-tea latte

Another month has just gone by without me even realizing how things are moving faster than what my korean level should be by now.

My progress in(or on??) Korean
Being in level 3 in korean is not as easy as I thought it would be. New grammars,expressions,new vocabulary,and most importantly the ability to concentrate on teacher's explanations prove evidently that it is the time to pull up the gear and pump up your korean skills!! So looking forward to over sized portions of Koreans being served and little less of... Well.. entertaiment awww...

Progress in finding a new place
non-existent... For real..
Sadly finding a new place to stay outside school dormitory is... insanely complicated. Houses in here are not exactly a piece of cake as you would find some of them being very inhospitable like u can live in a rooftop or a basement. Having lots of windows where ur freeze in winter and boil in summer or having no windows at all. Take your pick... Ah well... No good ever come from complaining they say.. So just have to look for other options. Somewhere out there there'll b a house where a kitchen is missing its owner and preferably an oven to go with it as well.. and a bread machine and an ice cream maker as well or in a million years a Kitchen Aid mixer!!.. hey no hurt in dreaming as they say!!

My progress on orchestra
awesome!! its moving really well. The deal is three times a week with three hour rehearsal each excluding parts rehearsal. So.. Yea very time consuming but quite worth it since we're preparing awesome three pieces! some include all four movements of the Beethoven symphony no.7 yay!!

Another busy week and month ahead! hope you out there non existent readers are having a good start to this month.

One of my highlights visiting Korea was getting to experience how Koreans actually live. I was delighted to stay in one of my friends' apartment in downtown Seoul. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner were insanely tasty. I have the tendency to think that the wives here have a pretty good reputation in cooking, especially with different side-dishes(banchan) that the rice is served with. when it comes to food, it should never be missed!

On Sunday the weather was somehow gone up to 16C which was great, no bubble jackets and cycling time. Robb found this out from the Lonely Planet where there is an itinerary to cycle around the Han River.

different type of bicycle to rent from small to two-seat bikes. There are bike stalls to rent, just a couple of minutes walk from the station. For an hour, it's 3000 won for 1 person, 6000 won for 2 ppl. You will need to put your ID card as a deposit, to be returned later. Don't know if they speak english well, but we just copied what the ppl in front of us said.

we rented the two person bike, so rare!! this is a good idea as I have my hands free to take photos

We went to Gwajang Market on Sunday, so only food stalls are open. It is one of the traditional markets selling different kinds of local delicacies

those seats have heating on them so your bottom wouldn't get cold... aww....

홍익 (Hongik) area is hosts gazzilion(?) of unique cafes, small shops and most known for its night clubs. Located in Line 2 and busy especially on weekends as there are shops open late

The cafes are worth a look as I found Korean cafes to be unique and homey. They serve a number unique blend coffees like cafe mocha macchiato?(unlike Melbourne with its lattes and short black). However, do make a note to the waiter if you don't want sugar in yours, as they automatically put in sugar.However, I found that Koreans are very chatty, so it might be quite noisy, specially if you don't know what they're talking about.

On Saturdays, they have free markets just in front of Hongik University where you can find heaps of artsy stuff

this guy was waiting for his turn to be drawn as caricature. I found it funny as they actually paste the paper(마지막 수님:last customer) on his back. lol

I do have to warn you there are lots of ppl, so be prepared to be shoved around...

small boutiques in the area selling some pretty good clothes & shoes at relatively cheap price

I love scarves here, they're awesome, there are never to much scarves to buy

1. breakfast provided?
2. location - Hongik has tons of guesthouses cus the area is just awsome!!
3. Price - hows your budget? do you mind sharing with 6 other ppl?(it can be really annoying!!)
4. Cleanliness - trust me IT IS important to check out reviews of how clean the guesthouse is

last - for me... TV, they need to have TV!!

Bebop Guesthouse
located near Hongik station, the guesthouse is not only for foreigners, but locals as well. They have dorms for six to four ppl, doubles as well. Kitchen and common room area is great, too bad they don't have TV.. T.T
(I need my dose of Korean TV!!)
random: I met two funny ladies the other day who stayed with me in the same room, we ended up talking the whole night with other ppl from the guesthouse, more posts on that later.

yup... I've done it!!! it's one out of six finished, though I'm happy as hell!! Today's (wed) english exam wasn't that bad, or at least I would make myself feel better by saying "I've done my best" and don't give a damn if its a C or an A+(which is completely impossible) ~.~

Ohh... it's that time of the year again... when you realised you've studied so many things but couldn't remember a thing. Just now, I opened my big-fat-red music folder, and just realized I have no idea what is in toorrow's exam. Too busy NOT caring, I'm so stuffed for tomorrow's music exam. Believe me, as easy as music exam may sounds like... it is in fact hard as hell. In my theory, to be successfully pass music exams, first you need to be super musically talented(which I'm not), u need at least have a perfect pitch (which I don't), and u need to be caring?(as in do what ever your teacher tells u to do)....
of course this might just be me having negative preceptions, just because I have NO IDEA what's in the exam. Don't get me wrong though, studying music is pretty fun. It's like the one subject you don't have to count or remember formulas. It will come together if u just to some practice.(which I haven't done for awhile)T.T

Now I'm sitting in my bed with countless papers my teacher gave us and trying to remember why she nagged us the other day, and now I think I know why...

friends, take my advice, take note whatever your teacher says if its regarding exams... or else you end up like me....

clueless

i need to stop myself from writing this blog during this week. I need to actually find something interesting to write about, instead of spreading my laziness on the net. Lol... ^^

Hi there!

I'm still swamped with exam prearations and I am going beserk. End of year exams will begin this wednesday, and my school decide to give us a holiday, today(monday) and tomorrow for us to be extra prepared. I mean how more prepared can you be? Giving two days extra to slave yourself reading scribbly notes does not mean you are well prepared. Well at least not for me. This it the part I hate the most

the waiting...

waiting to do the exams, waiting for it to finish. I found myself looking at the calendar more often than I used to. I wish I could just skip all this part like ripping the band-aid, minus the stingy-pain-and-bald-skin.

ahh... the life of a student... goes on...
thanks for listening to my rantings... i really need to get 'up close and personal' to Othello and his wife as I will be writting a-suposedly complex and filled with quotes-five page essay on their life.... huh...

Woohoo!! sama kayak si D-Laa yang lagi balik suka sama yamapi, g balik ntn ALIAS...
rindu deh ntn tu tv seri, dari plotnya sampe kostum2nya. Bagi yang blon prnah ntn, boleh dicoba.. mongo2.. ceritanya ttg agen rahasia CIA, Sydney Bristow (Jeniffer Garner, 13 going on 30) yang nyamar2 ke seluruh dunia dari india sampe zurich di eropa..
kayak si 007 James Bond, ada gadget2 kerenya dan nyamar pake kostum + ngomong bahasa2 asing. Wah.. kangen deh ntn ALIAS!!

kali ini g bikin sarapan spesial hari minggu... yum...

roti tawar di panggang
trus di teflon panaskan mentega, taro bacon dan tomat(yang uda dipotong)
untuk poached eggs: pecahkan telor di mangkok kecil, tutup, panaskan di microwave, high, 15 - 20 detik
putih telornya harus keliatan matang, tapi kuning telornya masih runny... yum...

eksperimen g kalo weekend hehe... tapi jangan dimakan sering2.. bisa eneg... mnding makan nasi uduk ah.... huaaaa laper....

Alow... semuaa... hari minggu ni... hehe... ada acara apa hayo??
ato tralu capek gara2 jalan2 hari sabtu?*ngeliat si wan,dep,tat*
Jadi ceritanya hari ini ada baby shower/7 bulanan untuk anak cwe homestay gw...
tapi baby shower ala india.. jadi ada doa dan nyanyi2 gitu de...
Acaranya itu mulai jem 10 pagi... g dah harus bangun jem stenga 9... huwaa... gak bisa tidur ampe siang deee...
yang dateng smua ibu2... sari dimana2.. g sendiri jga disuru pake si hehe... bagus2 si sarinya.. warnanya ngejreng2
makananya ok, tapi sayangnya vegetarian.. huaaa g pengen makan danging!!!..
foto? hmm kyknyaa hrus nyari2 de.. slna bkan g yang motoin.. males ci... masi pagi2 dah harus senyum2 ngeliatin happy families.... huaa rindu deh...
hmm btw... ngidem banget nasi padang... sama ayam... huaaa dangingg...

Eaglemont day 4 and 5

akhirnya... selesai juga dhe.. work exp...
pas hari jumat rameenaaaa bukan maen.. sampe pas pulang, gw mikir "gak bakal lagi yang namanya waitressing".. sangking capek nya...
5 hari kerja di Eaglemont Dish... hwaa banyak banget pengalaman yang didapet!!...
bener2 gak bisa di bandingin....

Winny got her first part time job! yay!!!
pas hri trakhir g nanya kalo ada opening untuk part time job...
and she said "ok, just come on Monday and we'll tell u(me) abt everything"...
yay!!! my FIRST EVER job! hehehe....

Hari kedua...wohoo...

hmm hari ini g blajarya ttg pastry terus!!! total yang dibikin 55 meat pies, skitar 12 pasties, 4 quiche

pagi2 dateng dah suru motong pastrynya, tapi yang enak kerja di ni tempat,klo playany lg gak sibuk suka ditanyain ada yang maw kopi ato hot chocolate gak, ato air...

hehe... lanjut ke crita pastrynya.. jadi...

g bikin semua meat pienya dari taro pastrynya di loyang sampe naro isi, tutup, masukin oven...

dari vegetarian, sapi, sampe ayam...

dah gitu bikin pasties sama quiche...

pas da maw pulang bikin apple almond pastry...

dah gitu bikin kue dan icing..

hari ini kerja di dapur terus, gak diluar.. hehe

Jadi ceritanya minggu ini g lagi ikut work experience...

Sjenis kerja part time gitu, salah satu program di skul waktu "round square week"

pilihan selain work experience untuk minggu ini bisa juga ikut kemping ato community service..

yah g pikir lebi enak kerjaa dapet duit daripada ngabisin hehe...

dan akhirnya g dapet kerja di kafe deket rumah, namanya "Eaglemont Dish"

hari pertama kerja tanggal 15 sept, senin....

g nyampe 10 mnit telat hehe... kerjana dri jem 9 pagi sampe jem 3sore

dan hari itu g diajarin banyakkk bangett...

sempet kebagian nyuci pring ci.. tapi cma 1/2 jem prtama, slny orang yang nyuci blon dateng...

dah gitu g diajarin bikin kue.. hwahaha...

g bikin orange cake,cheese cake, banana cake dah gitu jga diajarin bikin mayonnaise, muffin mix untuk breakfast, dll...

enaknya g dibolehin kerja didapur woohoo...

karna kafenya gak gitu gede, jadi dapurny jga gak gede... tapi walapun gt dah sibuk banget...

di dapurnya ada 3 orang

-Deb, owner kafenya, jga head chef

-satu dishwasher(ganti2 tiap shift/hari)

-satu chef untuk masak( lupa namanya)

dah gitu didepan(main counter) ada 1 ato 2 waiter sama 1 barista(yg bikin kopi)

orangnya semua baek2.. amat.. hehe.. seneng de.. tapi cape banget kerjanya

6 jem berdiri terus, jalan sini jalan sono

pas dah maw jem 3, g bole istirahat, trus bole makan apapun yang ada dicounter untuk lunch...

hwa... uenaknya...

tapi balik2 langsung teler... cape banget bo!..

bagi yang gak taw Pate a Choux ato Choux pastry itu apa...
nah ini lah bahasa kerenya....
eng i eng.... "KUE SUS" hehe...
dari kmaren lagi ngidam bikin dan makan kue sus... jadi pada hari Sabtu 14 september, kira2 jam 3(tigo) g bikin deh kue sus....
alasan lain maw bikin ni kue, slnya baru beli sempritan... hehe... sempritan prtama yg g beli sendiri...
tapi belinya cma nozzlena tok...

bangganya soalnya bikin pake tangan sendiri... tanpa bantuan sapa pun...

waktu kmaren juli pulang jkt, nyokap bikin ni kue sus...(gara2 dipaksa slama berhari2) aye jadi asistennya deh... jadi dah taw kira2 buatnya gimana
Choux Pastry ini bisa dibuat jadi Eclairs, cream puffs(yang kita bilan
g kue sus), profiterolles(bntukna lebi kecil kue sus), dll... trgantung bntuknya yang kita bikin...
bntuk yang g bikin si gak jlas...hehhe...

yang ultah ke 16 kmarin... ngeliat vid di blognya wan... wah.. enak bangett tuuh!!!

dan kmaren g jga bilang maw bikin kue ultah... hehe dah jadi!!...
tapi hiasanya juelek buanget... abis bikinya pake coklat ci...
ceritanya ginih.. temen g disini namanya "karen" dari china.. bah dasar tu orang rada2 rese gitu ya... masa dya kmaren bilang eh dateng ya g maw rayain ultah dya... hari minggu
trus kmaren g telp dya.. nanya jem brap di mana...
eh trus dya blang hmm gak taw... yaa gw kesel dong.. dah bikinin kue capek2 (makan seharian, bli bahanya, trus bikin kuenya, blon lagi nyuci naa)
yaaa uda g kesel blang ma dya kalo g gak bisa lama2 gara2 banyak peer(yaa emang banyak banget peernya)
trus ari ini dya baru bilang ktm di mana... trus g sms dy blang gak usa beli kue g dah bikin gitu..(semingu sblumnya g jga da ngomong hadiah bwat dy kue ajha)
eh trus dya blang dah beli... NYEBELINN....
hoah... jadi kesel deh.. nanti jem tengah lima maw pegi.. jadi males...
mending kuenya g kirim pake pos bwat si tatat ajha... (basi gak ya?)

bah... sebel...
oh g dah berprinsip kalo ad yg ultah hadiah g cuma bisa bikin kue low... haha...
tapi gak bakal deh g bikin kue bwat tu orang lagi... cape... (dah bahanya disini mahal abis lagi....) buahh....

Baking Fever

wahh aye dah 5 hari gak posting yah...
habis kadang2 trasa malas log in..
masala ttg homestay gw sudah kuw lupakan...
kupikir bodo amat ah... masala gt ajha kok... haha...
maapp kalo kliatanya kuw mara banget kmarin2 haha....

Kmaren aye bikin nachos! bikinya sih sore bwat "tea time" gituh abiss gak punya biskuit.. hehe
Nachos disini rada2 beda sama nachos yang byasa dijual di bioskop
bahan yang dipake itu corn chips(bntuk segitiga), keju parut, sama salsa dip
dicampur jadi satu masukkin oven deh... yum!!... wangi boo!!
biasa dimakan sama sour cream... bayangin lemaknya brapa banyak!! haha....
nyamm.. nyam.. enakknya...
g post potonya bsok.. hwehwe...
waktu dah maw dinner, tebak yg homestay g bikin apa?? Nachos!! sama lasagna..
eneg deh ay... gara2 dah makan tadi sore... ya trpaksa g makan jg... hahha...
lasagnanya enak ci.. cm gra2 nachos jadi off deh napsunya... haha..

Bsok aye maw bikin kue coklat! bwat hadiah ultah temen g di sini yang bernama Karen... abis gak punya duit ama pusing maw kasi hadiah apa... BIkin kue deh!! haha untung di gwnya juga sih ada alasan untuk bikin kue....

bagi teman2 yang berada di indo...
enaknya kaw pada libur.. hweh.. disini ngak.. masih sama ajhaa

tapi gak bole gitu.. kita semua harus punya ambisi!
ambisi untuk bangun tiap hari. Ambisi gw buat hari senen...

Lagi kesel banget sama anak cewe host parent gw..
kenapa? soalnya lagi hamil!
hehe taw kan kalo orang hamil kayak gimana? apa lagi dah mulai hamil gede... nyebelinn...
dya ngerasa kayak dia adalah orang paling penting di dunia...

kalo makan mili2, pagi2 grumbleee terusss...
pipisnya keterlaluan banyaknya...
dan yang paling nyebelin itu mood swings...
katanya sih gara2 hormon yang orang lagi hamil punya.. tapi bukannya itu cuma salah satu alasan biar kita bisa marah2 tanpa di keselin orang laen?
